Dear St Ann Parishioners,

I write to communicate the sad news of the death of Bishop Dewane, early this morning on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Attached is a press release and a biography made available by the Communications Department of the Diocese of Venice.

We are saddened, of course, when we lose a loved one. Bishop Dewane served us faithfully as our shepherd for almost twenty years. He celebrated masses at every school every year, leading and supporting the mission of Catholic education as the chief teacher of the faith in the diocese. As Christians, we bear the weight of this loss with Christ as a cross.  Though we are saddened, we are not without hope. Instead, we look forward, with Bishop Dewane, toward the safe harbor that God has promised us in the unending messianic feast that awaits all of us.
